Texas Mathematics — Grade 8
Comprehensive Course Syllabus
Course Overview
Our Texas Grade 8 Mathematics course is designed according to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. The curriculum prepares students for Algebra I and high school mathematics by strengthening algebraic reasoning, functions, geometry, statistics, probability, and mathematical modeling.
Students develop advanced problem-solving skills through real-world applications, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking while building a solid foundation for STEM education.
Real Number System
Rational & Irrational Numbers
Students distinguish between rational and irrational numbers, represent them on number lines, and understand their properties.
Square Roots & Cube Roots
Students evaluate square roots, cube roots, perfect squares, and perfect cubes while solving mathematical problems.
Scientific Notation
Students represent very large and very small numbers using scientific notation and perform calculations efficiently.
Exponents
Students simplify expressions using exponent rules and solve problems involving powers and exponential notation.
Approximating Irrational Numbers
Students approximate the value of irrational numbers such as π and square roots and locate them between rational benchmarks.
