Comprehensive Course Syllabus
Course Overview
Our Texas Grade 7 English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR) course is designed according to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards. The curriculum develops advanced reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, research, and analytical thinking skills required for middle school success.

Students identify themes, central ideas, and author's message while supporting answers with textual evidence.
Character Development
Students analyze character traits, motivations, relationships, conflicts, and character growth throughout a story.
Plot & Story Structure
Students examine exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution, and different plot structures.
Author's Craft
Students evaluate tone, mood, figurative language, symbolism, imagery, irony, and literary devices used by authors.
Comparing Texts
Students compare fiction and nonfiction texts by analyzing themes, perspectives, writing styles, and supporting evidence.
Point of View
Students identify first-person, third-person limited, and omniscient narration and explain how point of view shapes a story.
