New York Hindi — Grade 7

Comprehensive Course Syllabus

Course Overview

Our New York Grade 7 Hindi course brings students to real academic competence in the language. They read stories, कविताएँ, and informational articles independently, and write descriptive, narrative, informative, and opinion pieces in देवनागरी.

The foundation strand consolidates the full script including संयुक्त अक्षर, अनुस्वार, अनुनासिक, विसर्ग, and हलंत, with dedicated work on pronunciation, intonation, and digital Hindi typing.

The grammar strand is the most complete in the sequence: all eight parts of speech, three noun types including भाववाचक संज्ञा, four pronoun categories, adjectives with full agreement, transitive and intransitive verbs, tenses including continuous and perfect forms, postpositions, questions, negation, conjunctions, and Hindi punctuation conventions.

Students then study literature, poetry, and अलंकारउपमा, रूपक, मानवीकरण, अनुप्रास, and अतिशयोक्ति — write across four genres, translate between Hindi and English, and develop listening, presentation, and cultural communication skills.

Standards Note

Hindi is a world language elective, not a mandatory New York State subject. New York State schools may offer different world languages, and language programmes vary considerably between districts and schools.

This syllabus is aligned broadly with the New York State Learning Standards for World Languages, which describe communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities rather than prescribing content for any particular language.

There is no single statewide New York Grade 7 Hindi curriculum prescribed for every school. This is one structured Hindi pathway created for this educational programme, suitable both for heritage learners and for students continuing from Grade 6.

Students completing a middle-school world language sequence may in some New York districts be eligible for a Checkpoint A assessment or high-school language credit. Eligibility rules vary by district and are set by the school, not by this programme.

It is important to distinguish between the New York State World Languages Learning Standards and the Hindi course structure created for this educational programme, which organises Hindi learning into 32 teachable modules.
