New York Hindi — Grade 10
Comprehensive Course Syllabus
Course Overview
Our New York Grade 10 Hindi course develops advanced academic proficiency across all four language skills. The year opens with communication and Devanagari review, then moves into systematic pronunciation and oral fluency work and a substantial fifteen- topic advanced vocabulary module spanning academic, technological, social, and abstract language.
The grammar strand is the most demanding yet: sentence structure and transformation, noun gender and agreement, the complete pronoun system including relative, indefinite, and reflexive pronouns, the full tense system with continuous, perfective, and habitual aspects, and a dedicated module on advanced verb structures — compound verbs, causative verbs, modals, and participles.
Students then study postpositions and case relationships, adjectives and adverbs with degrees of comparison, complex conjunctions, and a full grammar accuracy and error correction module. Reading covers essays, articles, news, biography, historical and cultural texts, poetry, and short stories analysed for theme, imagery, and narrative voice.
Writing spans essays, narrative and creative writing, and formal versus informal register. The course closes with discussion and debate, listening comprehension, two-way translation, idioms, Indian culture and literature, Hindi media, digital Hindi, research and presentation skills, and integrated projects with a portfolio.

Why Choose NextChanakya for New York Grade 10 Hindi?
Standards Note
This syllabus is designed as a structured Grade 10 Hindi programme for students in New York, broadly informed by the New York State Learning Standards for World Languages, which describe expectations for communication, culture, and language proficiency rather than prescribing content for any particular language.
Hindi is not a mandatory subject in New York State schools. Schools and districts differ in which world languages they offer, at what level, and on what schedule. Many students study Hindi through supplementary or community programmes. Students seeking a New York State world language credential, including any checkpoint examination or LOTE credit, should confirm requirements with their own school or district.
New York State does not prescribe a single Hindi textbook, curriculum sequence, pacing guide, or assessment system. This is not the only Grade 10 Hindi syllabus available, and other programmes may organise content differently.
Cultural content covering Indian festivals, traditions, arts, geography, and history is presented factually and inclusively as cultural and historical information, not devotionally, and reflects the diversity of communities across India and among Hindi speakers worldwide.
It is important to distinguish between the New York State World Languages Learning Standards and the Hindi course structure created for this educational programme, which organises language learning into a month-by-month teaching sequence.
