Comprehensive Course Syllabus
Course Overview
Our New Jersey Grade 3 Olympiad Studies course is an enrichment program designed to develop advanced mathematical reasoning, scientific thinking, logical reasoning, language skills, computational thinking, creativity, and competitive problem-solving abilities.
The course builds upon Grade 3 learning expectations while introducing students to Olympiad-style questions, puzzles, investigations, STEM challenges, coding problems, and mock competitions.
Mathematical Olympiad Foundations
Advanced Number Sense
Students strengthen their understanding of whole numbers, place value, comparisons, number relationships, and numerical patterns through challenging problems.
Addition & Subtraction Challenges
Students solve multi-step and non-routine addition and subtraction problems that require careful reasoning.
Multiplication Challenges
Students apply multiplication facts, arrays, equal groups, properties, and mental strategies to solve Olympiad-style problems.
Division Challenges
Students solve division problems involving equal groups, measurement situations, missing numbers, and relationships between multiplication and division.
Number Puzzles
Students solve puzzles involving missing numbers, number relationships, operations, sequences, and mathematical patterns.

Fraction Concepts
Students explore fractions as numbers and use visual models, number lines, and real-world situations to solve challenging problems.

Students compare fractions using visual representations, common numerators or denominators, and mathematical reasoning.

Students identify and generate simple equivalent fractions using models and number relationships.

Classification

Analogies
Students identify relationships between numbers, words, shapes, and objects and apply those relationships to new situations.
Sequencing
Students arrange numbers, objects, events, or actions in the correct logical order.
Odd One Out
Students identify an item that does not belong to a group and explain the reasoning behind their choice.
Logical Deduction
Students use clues and relationships to determine unknown information and reach logical conclusions.
